Dr. Gregory Fiore is a Board Certified physician, healthcare executive and entrepreneur. He is a recognized expert in clinical research and pharmacovigilance (PV) with particular expertise in designing PV and Medical systems and governance structures in pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical devices. He has global functional leadership experience as Chief Medical Officer as well as Head of PV and Clinical Program Leader and has experience in more than 10 pharmaceutical therapy areas as well as several medical devices.
Dr. Fiore is the founder and Chief Medical Officer of SSI Strategy, a niche multinational management consultancy with a focus in Medical Office functions (Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, PV). SSI combines business consulting experience and discipline with pharmaceutical experience and domain expertise to ensure effectiveness of medical organizations in contributing to overall corporate success. Prior to this Dr. Fiore was the Chief Medical Officer of a global biotechnology company focused on developing and commercializing hospital products for critically ill patients. In this role he was responsible for several marketed products as well as a rich development pipeline of drugs and devices. Dr. Fiore played an active role in Business Development and led or oversaw diligence for multiple acquisition targets. As CMO, Dr. Fiore was responsible for Pharmacovigilance, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs standards and platforms as well as Good Clinical Practices Quality. He was co-Chairperson of the Safety and Medical Policy Committee.
Earlier, Dr. Fiore spent time in roles of increasing responsibility in PV, including the role of Global Head. He worked at companies such as Merck, Schering-Plough, The Medicines Company and Abbott Laboratories. He also led two completed business development deals and was Head of Alliance Management for two product franchises. Dr. Fiore served as the overall lead for a heart failure development program for a new molecular entity.
Dr. Fiore was valedictorian at New York Medical College and trained in Internal Medicine at Harvard Medical School's Brigham and Women’s Hospital and then underwent further clinical training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine in the Harvard Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship program. From Harvard he joined McKinsey & Company where he worked on projects in a variety of industries including pharmaceuticals.
Dr. Fiore was a member of the CIOMS IX working group on Risk Minimization and has served on several biotechnology company safety advisory committees, including in the role of Chairperson. He has also served on the Board of Dubset Media Holdings and is a Scientific Advisory Board member for Adverse Health Analytics and the Executive Committee of the SOAR clinical registry monitoring the safety of oral anticoagulants. Greg serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of Clinical Leader, an online journal aimed at providing solutions for the Pharmaceutical Industry.
