Usman 'Oz' Azam, MD
CEO
Oz Azam has operated at the intersection of science, capital, and execution for more than 24 years, and he has done it across some of the most complex environments in the industry. As Global Head of Cell & Gene Therapies at Novartis, he sat on the Pharmaceutical Executive Committee and led a $500M+ organization across four global locations, building the infrastructure that brought CAR-T and HSC therapies to commercial scale. He then founded and led Tmunity Therapeutics, raising $231 million, delivering three novel first-in-man INDs, and completing the sale of a GMP manufacturing facility to Resilience before Tmunity was acquired by Kite (Gilead). He went on to lead Empyrean Neuroscience, advancing the world's first genetically engineered psilocybin drug product toward the clinic, before taking the helm at Cue Biopharma, where he now serves as Chief Executive Officer. From Novartis boardrooms to serial company formation, Oz brings a rare combination of institutional scale and founder-level grit and a track record of seeing programs through from concept to clinical stage.
